Developed by Saber Interactive and serving as a sequel to the 2011 game, Captain Titus returns after undergoing a transformation from a Firstborn Marine into a Primaris Space Marine that makes him stronger, faster and taller.

Set to take on the forces of Hive Fleet Leviathon within the 42nd Millenium of the Warhammer Games Workshop, the pressure is on to stop enemy forces from invading Avarax and Kadaku.

Space Marine 2 is made up of a combination of melee and ranged combat from a third-person perspective, with Clive Standen taking over for voice work from Mark Strong as Tidus.

Fans have been waiting 12 years to find out what's happened to the character, so expectations are high.

To get you excited in the meantime, here's everything we know about Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, including its release date, all the latest trailers and how to secure a pre-order in time for launch.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is an upcoming video game that will serve as a sequel to 2011's Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine.

While the original game was made by Relic Entertainment and overseen by THQ, the new one will be made by Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive.

"The galaxy is in peril. Entire worlds are falling. The Imperium needs you," the game's official description reads.

"Embody the superhuman skill and brutality of a Space Marine, the greatest of the Emperor’s warriors, with Clive Standen (Vikings, Taken) as the iconic Captain Titus."

Which consoles and platforms can play Warhammer Space Marine 2?

Warhammer Space Marine 2 will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, making it entirely exclusive to next-gen hardware.

This means that anyone hoping to pick up the game on PlayStation 4, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch will have to look elsewhere.

There's a chance it might be ported back to last-gen consoles at some point in future - however, that is becoming less common as time goes on.

Warhammer Space Marine 2 is now available at GAME, with the retailer appearing to be one of the only places to have a pre-order available at the time of writing.

Warhammer Space Marine 2 PC pre-orders have not yet begun, though you can wishlist the game on Steam so you don't miss out on launch.

You can also pre-order the £229.99 Collector's Edition on the Focus Entertainment Store. This comes with a copy of the game, a steelbook, a 64-page hardcover book, Macragge's Chosen DLC and a gruesome statue of Lieutenant Titus fighting a Tyranid.

This is available across all platforms, so PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. These are exclusive to Focus Entertainment's store and will likely sell out ahead of release.

Warhammer Space Marine 2 is an action-focused third-person shooter with hack-and-slash elements just like the 2011 original. This time around, though, its frenetic action and explosive gore are powered on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and modern PC hardware, so the graphics have naturally seen a boost.

It looks every bit as brutal, bombastic and over-the-top as we could have hoped. Better yet, it's since been confirmed that the campaign will be playable in co-op for up to three players.

An extended look at gameplay was uploaded in August 2023, giving us our best idea of what it will entail. Check out the footage below:

Little is known about the game's story, but thanks to the game's official announcement, we know this will be an experience where players will unleash deadly abilities and an arsenal of devastating weaponry to obliterate the relentless Tyranid hordes.

More like this

"Hold at bay the horrors of the galaxy in epic battles on far-flung planets," the game's story description reads. "Uncover dark secrets and drive back the everlasting night to prove your ultimate loyalty to humanity."
