The much-maligned and most-wanted zombie survival MMO The Day Before has been beleaguered by another delay in some unfortunate news for console players.

We'll tell all, as we have everything you need to know about The Day Before release date, trailers and gameplay details.

First revealed back in January 2021, The Day Before generated a huge amount of hype - and shot up to the top spot as Steam's most wishlisted game.

The game was removed from Steam, however, when a dispute emerged regarding its name. This has since passed and The Day Before was reinstated.

Currently, it still holds the number two spot, which is highly impressive for a game that has since garnered a lot of criticism.

The Day Before is purported to be a true online zombie-infested sandbox that can be played solo or with friends in co-op. Soon enough, we'll be able to dive in and see for ourselves.

When is The Day Before release date?

The Day Before release date is 7th December 2023, the development team has promised.

The game had been set for a March launch and was delayed to 10th November before being pushed back once more.

There's not long now, though, and soon we can see what developer Fntastic has been brewing up for all these years.

Can I pre-order The Day Before?

No, you cannot pre-order The Day Before.

Developers Fntastic announced this in the X (formerly Twitter) post linked above.

Once the game is coming out of early access and heading to the consoles, there could well be a pre-order then. We will update you when we have more information regarding this.

Which consoles and platforms can play The Day Before?

The Day Before is being released on PC via Steam and on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

It will only be released, however, when it's ready for a full release. Early access will be restricted to PC.

Unfortunately, there is no sign of the zombie MMO being released on PS4, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch.

Without some serious compromises to the game’s detailed graphics, though, we doubt those three consoles could run this game. Don’t expect it to be ported to the last-gen machines or the Switch.

The Day Before gameplay and story details

The Day Before is an open-world MMO zombie survival game. If you ever watched The Walking Dead and wish you could have a crack at that (we don’t judge here) then you’re in luck.

With zombies everywhere across New Fortune City, a post-apocalyptic vision of America's East Coast, you will be tasked with surviving in any way you can.

The game starts when you awaken after being rescued by survivors living in the Woodbury Colony. There, you'll create a character and the colony will act as a hub for new players where you can accept missions in exchange for Woodbury coins, the in-game currency.

On top of its third-person shooting mechanics, the game promises large-scale exploration and drivable, detailed vehicles that you can buy from Woodbury or steal from fellow survivors.

You can also steal other players’ weapons and food. It’s kill or be killed out there.

You can, of course, work in a team for survival and play with friends/family in your attempt to survive by scavenging for resources.

Is there a The Day Before trailer?

The Day Before has had an official gameplay reveal shared by IGN on YouTube, and we have it linked below for your perusal.

Coupled with a bizarrely chirpy narrator who seems ecstatic about the end of the world, the trailer shows off the game's features, map and gameplay mechanics.

Reminiscent of Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened, YouTube User @patrickdoherty4527 summed up their thoughts on what they saw:

"This is all going to make for a great documentary some day."

Hopefully, the game does land in a good state and we all have a great time of it.
